Crosshairs by Patricia Bradley

The third in a series ("Natchez Trace Park Rangers"), Patricia Bradley, keeps the suspense going until the end, throwing in plenty of surprises for the reader.  While it is part of a series, it is easily read as a stand alone book as the series is bound by the characters rather than the story line itself.
